Our Rabbi, Rabbi Dr. Chanan Markowitz, is a master preacher and teacher who reaches out to people of all ages with warmth and love. He offers two adult study classes.
Our highly regarded religious school offers Sunday School for grades K-2 and a two- to three-day per week program of Jewish Studies for grades 3-7, including prayer, Hebrew, history, and art and culture. In their final year of religious school, students prepare for bar/bat mitzvah. Post bar/bat mitzvah students are offered a course called Cooking, Crafts, and Cantellation.
We welcome young families with our PRESCHOOL PROGRAMMING: Tot Shabbat and Tot Holiday, which provide age appropriate activities for infants through preschool-aged children. This program is open to all and does not require any registration or synagogue membership.
Adult Basic Hebrew classes are periodically offered to introduce adults to basic Hebrew skills.
We love to sing: our services are rich in traditional Hebrew prayer (as well as English readings). Our CHOIR adds an inspirational and special dimension to selected services throughout the year.
Our SISTERHOOD, BROTHERHOOD, and SOCIAL CLUB offer a variety of social and Jewish cultural activities. An informal WALKING CLUB can be seen on the trails near the synagogue twice a week in the summer. We also have a Biking Club and periodically offer Israeli Dancing. We are a very social congregation!
Our COEJL Committee (Coalition on the ENVIRONMENT and Jewish Life) has an active agenda related to environmental awareness and conservation. We have a long history of SOCIAL ACTION projects, volunteering and fundraising for a variety of worthy causes.
We warmly welcome interfaith families and have an active Interfaith Committee. Our active REYUT (Friendship) Committee reaches out to those in need, in the event of illness or death, as well as for happy events such as welcoming new babies.
An active LISTSERV helps members communicate, with regular postings about synagogue happenings, personal announcements and news of Jewish interest. We now send e-mail copies of the monthly bulletin to members on the listserv.
We are a warm and welcoming Jewish community. Please join us.
